My goal in making this jig was simply to make the finest football jig on the market, no easy task. I felt that having a wide tapered head design was paramount because it does not get hung up as much and you can feel the bait working much better on a hard bottom.
I also wanted to use a head design that incorporated a recessed line tie to protect the knot. Most importantly regarding the head design was having the perfect jig hook, I wanted a wide gap, ultra sharp, strong, medium wire hook. By using a super sharp, medium wire hook, opposed to using a thick, heavy wire hook, it's so much easier to get a solid hook set on fish setting in deeper water, and it's also harder for the fish to throw the jig.
I also felt it was crucial to utilize a softer, medium flex weed guard, which will reduce hang ups and increase hook ups. The jig head itself has multiple coats of baked on paint for durability. In my mind, the final step in making the perfect living rubber jig was to use only the finest living rubber skirt material available. We use only round living rubber, cut fine, which flows naturally in the water, and it looks and feels like something alive, and the color options are outstanding. We are selling this amazing jig in 4 custom colors, in both 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz. sizes. Each jig comes complete with a scented, color matched twin tail trailer.
Pro Tip: Living rubber jigs were designed to get quality bites in cold water, and these excel in that regard. In cold water, rubber rules, in warm water, silicone skirts are a better option in my opinion. When fishing these jigs, slowly drag them on the bottom, with brief pauses.
I prefer using a 7'3" medium/heavy action rod, with a soft tip, and I prefer fishing these jigs on 12- or 16-pound Gamma fluorocarbon line.
Please note: Do not leave living rubber jigs in tackle boxes in hot water, the rubber will stick together and destroy the jig.
Football head style jigs have been around since the early 1970's, and are absolutely one of the best bait's you can throw, not just for numbers of bass, but for giant bass as well. I started fishing football jigs in about 1986, on the deep, clear, highland reservoirs of the west, and have caught hundreds of big bass on this phenomenal bait.
The real key to a good football jig is in its versatility. You can slowly drag them, swim them, hop them, and even vertically jig them, and they are equally effective from a foot of water to 50' feet deep.
When I committed myself to making our own version of a football head jig, my real objective was to simply improve in areas where other jigs are lacking, and I feel we have done that and more. I believe that the recessed line tie angle we use not only protects the knot, but it also changes the action of the jig itself.
We also incorporated a medium stiff weed guard, which allows you to work the bait directly in the cover, and our medium wire ultra point hook, allows for easy penetration at deeper depths. We finished this bait off by adding one of our custom multicolored silicone skirts and a color matched scented twin tail trailer. We offer this exceptional bait in a variety of colors, and each color is available in 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, and 3/4 oz sizes. I invite you to add some to your bass arsenal.
Pro Tip: I prefer fishing this bait on a 7' 3" medium/heavy action baitcasting rod, spooled up with 12-to-16-pound Gamma fluorocarbon line.
Please note: We will trim the skirts and add trailers to each jig, but we will not trim the weed guards unless you specifically ask us too.
I've been fishing swimbaits for 25 years, and can state as fact that this is the best paddle tail swimbait I have ever used. This may be the perfect bass bait. Pitch it into shallow cover, swim it back on a weighted swimbait hook or one of our custom jigheads. You can also swim it weightless through grass and vegetation. It's also an outstanding bait to use as a trailer on a Swim Jig or bladed Swim Jig. This is a beefy bait that has weight so you can cast it a country mile, it's also a very durable bait that will catch multiple fish, and the action on this bait is fantastic. One of our best selling bait's, and with great reason, they flat out consistently catch bass. Our soft Jerkbait's are very durable and the custom colors we offer allow you to show the bass unique color combinations. I typically nose hook this bait with a wide gap dropshot hook and a 1/8 to 3/16 oz. dropshot weight. This is a great way to catch bass relating to mainlake structures such as points, ledges and deep grass lines. For fishing this bait in and around docks, wood and vegetation, I will rig the bait Texas Rig, with a size 4ot or 5ot offset Gamagatsu hook. This larger hook acts like a boat keel and will steer the bait in a very natural gliding motion. We offer this dynamite bait in (8) custom colors, and sell them in a package of (6) baits for $5.00.
Please note: This is also a great bait to catch big Fluke. Simply rig it onto one of our Gamagatsu screwlock jig heads and hold on.
Our buzzbaits flat out catch fish. We use a flat head design, which brings the bait on plane immediately, and allows the bait to stay on the surface at a slow speed. We also utilize a bead in front of our aluminum blade to reduce vegetation on the blade.
We use our own signature series multi colored silicone skirts, along with a color matched paddle tail trailer to increase both bulk and castibility. All of our buzzbaits also incorporate a super sharp needle point hook.
Pro tip: I prefer fishing buzzbaits on a 7' to 7' 4" medium heavy action baitcasting rod, and a reel spooled with Gamma 30 pound braid tied directly to the bait.
Sally does well fishing these on a 7' medium/heavy action spinning rod, spooled with straight 20 pound Gamma braid.
